Ideas for the house?

Well, I love tearing out ideas for my house from magazine articles. I had a huge pile of ideas and I put them in a binder...

The binder was getting too big, so I needed a new thing to hold my precious ideas.

LOVE the colors!

My new recipe holder!

I am on lunch at work and just had to share my latest creation...

Don't you love looking at new recipes? Or trying new things out at home for a dinner party? Well, I sure do!

Well, I LOVE to tear out magazine articles of recipes... I had three folders full of magazine clippings! I wanted to organize them and keep these precious recipes, so I started a project!

I bought a binder, 2 5 tab organizers, and a package of 100 clear sheet protectors! (all for a total of $10 from Target!) www.target.com

Now, all of my recipes are in one organized place! I arranged them by Appetizers/Starters, Salads, Soups, Etc.... I am very excited for the next time that I try a new recipe!

Oriental Chicken Salad.....

Want to try something at home that tastes like you are out for dinner at Applebees? (www.applesbees.com)

Then you must try this simple simple recipe...

EVERY time my hubby eats the first bite, the look on his face says it all:

First, make the dressing:

Oriental Dressing
3 tablespoons honey
1 1/2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 teaspoon Grey Poupon Dijon Mustard
1/8 teaspoon sesame oil
Salad
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup cornflake crumbs
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 skinless chicken breast half
2 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
3 cups chopped romaine lettuce
1 cup red cabbage
1 cup napa cabbage
1/2 carrot, julienned or shredded
1 green onion, chopped
1 tablespoon sliced almonds
1/3 cup chow mein noodles
Directions
1. Preheat oil in deep fryer or deep pan over medium heat.
2. You want the temperature of the oil to be around 350 degrees.
3. Blend together all ingredients for dressing in a small bowl with an electric mixer.
4. Put dressing in refrigerator to chill while you prepare the salad.
5. In a small, shallow bowl beat egg, add milk, and mix well.
6. In another bowl, combine flour with corn flake crumbs, salt and pepper.
7. Cut chicken breast into 4 or 5 long strips.
8. Dip each strip of chicken first into egg mixture then into the flour mixture, coating each piece completely.
9. Fry each chicken finger for 5 minutes or until coating has darkened to brown.
10. Prepare salad by tossing the chopped romaine with the chopped red cabbage, Napa cabbage, and carrots.
11. Sprinkle sliced green onion on top of the lettuce.
12. Sprinkle almonds over the salad, then the chow mein noodles.
13. Cut the chicken into small bite-size chunks.
14. Place the chicken onto the salad forming a pile in the middle.
15. Serve with salad dressing drizzled over it or on the side.

Last, get out the spinach or romaine lettuce add coleslaw mix *instead of all the dfferent kinds of cabbage/lettuce, almond slices, chow mein noodles and the dressing and VOILA, delicious salad!

Traveling...

I travel a lot for work and it has given me the opportunity to meet a lot of people and explore new places. Tomorrow, I am off to Simi Valley, California. Last year I spent 10 weeks here, as it has one of our offices that deals with program changes. Since I work on projects- our team gets to spend a lot of time here.

Here are a few photos to enjoy! Simi is very mountainous. Its located in the valley and gets the lovely Santa Ana breeze!

Google Simi Valley! It is a cute area about 20 minutes northwest of LA. www.google.com

Word of Advice

My cell phone died yesterday. It would not come back on. It would not allow a charge. AND I lost all of my phone numbers, photos, and ringers...

Lesson learned-

Write down or type up all phone numbers or back them up somewhere!

The process of getting everyone's phone number back is going to be a long one.

However, this may be a blessing in disguise. My hubby says to wait for people to call you... then the numbers that you lost, well, maybe you didn't need those numbers.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm, something to ponder.

Sickly

It's been awhile... yet again. I've had bronchitis, so I have been unable to write. Mainly sleeping and coughing... no fun!

While napping on Sunday afternoon- I had 3 peaceful hours of sleep and NO coughing! Because my husband went out and bought a Vaporizer by www.Vicks.com It works wonders. Here is a little information about it:

Temporarily relieves cough associated with a cold

Nagging cough? Vicks® VapoSteam®, when added to your Vicks Vaporizer or other hot/warm steam vaporizer, increases the action of steam to moisten dry, irritated breathing passages and temporarily relieves coughs due to minor throat and bronchial irritation associated with a cold.

This thing works really well! I am extremely grateful for it. The Vaporizer was on sale for $15.00 and the VapoSteam was only $8.00, REALLY cheap when you want to feel better!
