Olympic Trials

Last weekend John and I went to the Olympic Trails for Wrestling in Iowa City. The road to London 2012! Being a part of something so special is something that I can't put into words. I felt so patriotic and proud to be an American, just merely by attending. Check out ww.iowacitytolondon.com We both attended the University and were very excited that the trials would be in our college town! AND... Iowa City didn't disappoint.
Carver and Iowa City was the PERFECT place to hold the event. There have already been numerous articles written about how the attendance broke all records. In fact, the attendance record was broken before any of the matches started! The trials had 4 sessions. Once at 9am and the last at 6pm on both Saturday and Sunday. Freestyle wrestling and Greco Roman wrestling are different from college and high school wrestling, but it was so exciting! We even got to see some former Hawkeyes compete! (In fact, one placed 2nd, another placed 3rd!) Here are some of my favorite pics from the trials. Dan Gable was in the house! :)
A statue put up for Dan Gable earlier in the week!
Our t-shirt for signing on up the first day to attend:
There was also a Fan Fest, by Asics downtown in the Ped Mall (free shuttles to and from Carver!)
Even Savanny was clowning around and wearing her new wrestling shirt! :) We even met Herky!
