We started off this morning with watching a beautiful sunrise at our terrace and then went off to Cathedral Rock. Waking up early is key to hiking here. We got to the trail at 6am. It was not busy and gorgeous!
John did the trail and I dinked around town and checked out Church of the Holy Cross, Snoopy Rock and Uptown Sedona and got coffee.
We started at Oak Creek Vinyard, which I joined their email club prior to joining and got a free tasting with buying one!
I saw my first lizard here! It made me kinda want one as a pet!
Next up Javelina!
This winery had mainly reds and some interesting blends. John and I shared all 8 tastings, which was nice. We ended up with a wine called The Prospector's Blend. Can't wait to have this in the comforts of Casa Harbin!
The last winery we went to was Page Cellars.
We ended up doing the Arizona Flight. Most of these wines were blended and I really didn't have a favorite.
We left Cottonwood and headed for Jerome. Jerome is a quaint, old mining town. Here we ate lunch at Grapes. Ranked 2 on trip advisor for Jerome.
For lunch John ordered a Pastrami sammie with the chipotle carrot soup of the day and I ordered an Italian sausage and mushroom pizza.
The pizza crust was good, thin and the toppings were amazing. John's soup was to.die.for... So good. His sammie, I liked; however, the spicy mustard was too hot for him and we ended up switching meals- because the spice (from the horseradish) didn't bother me.
After lunch, we explored Jerome a little and enjoyed the scenery.
We took the hotel shuttle to happy hour at Barking Frog. $3.50 beers and $4.50 wines, super nice!
After this, we walked to dinner at Dahl & DiLuca. It's ranked on Trip Advisor, Yelp and recommended by Fodor's... And we know why!!!
We started off with this calamari... It had a lemon caper and spicy marinara dipping sauce. Best calamari we have ever had! Next, the bread was flavored with poppy seeds and the Extra Virgin Olive Oil was garlic and basil infused... YUM!
For dinner I had Pollo el Rustico (homemade fetticine with chicken, cremini mushrooms and spinach in a white truffle sauce. ) John had the special Sogliola Rollato (sole rolled with lobster, bay scallops, shrimp, spinach, goat cheese with a lobster bisque with rice and veggies.). This place was amazing.
We ended the night with a walk and watched the stars. More adventures for the rest of the week! I can't wait!
